WWE: Randy Orton and John Cena

So, John Cena & Randy Orton are going to have a match at TLC for both the major titles in the wwe. Is this the right thing for the company? I'm going to look at the pros and cons of this scenario.

Pros:

John Cena is arguably the biggest star the company has ever seen in years. Love him or hate him, you can't deny what he brings to the table within the industry. His main stream appeal draws in the big numbers Vince loves. If you compare the buy rate of pay per views with Cena vs those without, the figures are startling. John Cena may have a limited repertoire when it comes to his wrestling, but he is still a class act when it comes to the big events.

Randy Orton brings a bit of wrestling class to the equation. He's a great wrestler but can come across as stale yes. And his promos may be monotonous and sometimes very distorted, but nonetheless, he is still a well rounded and accomplished performer.

With these two performers bringing different advantages to the table, they both have that main event class and prestige to them which makes it feel like an important battle and actually gives equal value to both titles, something which has been lacking for a long while. For far too long the WHC has been the secondary top title. But now with Cena carrying it, it brings a new dimension to it.

The unification would breathe fresh life Into the company and add a new dimension to the scene, giving legitimate title contenders as opposed to having randomers cropping up and challenging for titles pointlessly.

Cons:

Randy Orton and John Cena have been round the block far too many times. They can be seen as untouchables. Supermen. Whatever you like. They have been in the main event scene far too many times to count. I mean, when was the last time you saw Cena not main event? I like both wrestlers, don't get me wrong. But they've had their time, and now it's time for others to step up to the plate and have their chance. However, the drawback of this could be another Daniel Bryan/Vince McMahon moment - "swing and a miss". It's a shame to think that Bryan didn't live up to what was hoped in his eyes, but he seems to be the only one that holds that view.

Another thing is that with the titles being unified, it limits the amount of opportunities for up and coming stars to break through the glass ceiling to the main event. It's a tough thing to do and with only one title to aim for, it's going to become even more difficult.

In short, I think the unification is a great thing for the company because in the long run, it could potentially lead to an explicit brand division much like a few years ago. Ad when this happens, it'll make everything more fresh and draw intrigue back to the scene!
