Rumors that Stone Cold Steve Austin could compete at WrestleMania

Stone Cold Steve Austin could be set for one final match in the WWE as reports surrounding a new relationship between Austin and the WWE have been circulating online.

Fans who paid close attention to this past week on Monday Night Raw may have noticed the commentary team of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and John Bradshaw Layfield plugged Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast; The Steve Austin Show, where Kevin Nash will be his guest.

It was a surprise to hear that they mentioned the podcast live on air, whereas the WWE only promoted Chris Jericho’s podcast; Talk is Jericho, on wwe.com.

This news was then followed up by reports that the WWE were ordering a bulk of new Stone Cold merchandise; an odd move considering the podcast isn’t under or affiliated with the WWE even though it often features WWE personnel.

One more match

Now reports are emerging that this new working relationship between Stone Cold and the WWE is because Austin is training hard for one final match, expected to take place at a WrestleMania.

It is still only a rumour right now and more news will probably be released in the coming months regarding an in-ring return for The Texas Rattlesnake but it’s not out of the question just yet.

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they have claimed that Austin’s recent public claim that he’s training hard is an indication that he is getting ready for one final match in the WWE; and we all know just how far back these rumours have dated and it looks as if we are edging closer to it happening, even Stone Cold has been open to the idea if the money is worth competing for and of course, an entertaining storyline.

The two biggest – and perhaps only – possibilities are WrestleMania 31 in California next year, or WrestleMania 31 which takes place in Texas, which does make sense for Stone Cold.

Tackling the beast

So just who is the number one option for Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania?
The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Fans across the world who follow WWE on a regular basis will know Roman Reigns is penned to take on The Beast Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31 but that plan hasn’t been set in concrete just yet.

There are still doubts as to whether Lesnar will indeed walk out of Tennessee with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship intact as John Cena or Seth Rollins could walk out with the gold, if the latter decides to cash in his Money in the Briefcase. If this does happen then Austin could get his wish; he has already stated that he would like a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania.
