Update on Rey Mysterio's Future with the WWE

After CM Punk's departure last month, the WWE are reportedly preparing themselves for another star name leaving the company in the near future.

There has been lots of talk within WWE about ReyMysterio's future with the company over the last 48 hours. Rey's deal expires in 3 months and with there no longer being a top spot for him, the belief among some is that he is preparing to finish up his last run and be finished.

Those same people that speculate he's leaving soon believe that he could end up on the new AAA TV show that debuts on the El Rey Network this fall.

It is interesting to note thatMysterio's contract expires in three months timeas it will be a particularly lean time for the company. The clutch of part-time starsthe likes of Undertaker and Brock Lesnarwill have once again parted ways with the WWE, leaving the roster looking pretty lean.

Although not the most active wrestler on the roster at this moment in time, Mysterio still provides a certain unique element to the WWE that many do not. His approach to wrestling is still as exciting as many within the WWEand he would be a pretty big loss.

He has a big following amongst fans in the company, toowhich may well be a worry of the WWE should they lose Mysterio.

However, he has been plagued by injuries over the past few yearsand has suffered somewhat of a dramatic fall from grace since the halcyon days of winning Royal Rumble matches and World Heavyweight Championships.

Since his return last October from another injury layoff, he has only sporadically appeared on WWE TVand has had a sparse amount ofstorylines to work with. Perhaps his most notable moment since his returnwhich sums up Mysterio's position within the WWEis his No. 30 spot in the Royal Rumble. That drew huge boos from the crowdas many were disappointed not to see Daniel Bryan.

At the age of 39, perhaps it is time for the WWE to call it a day with ReyMysterio. However, these last couple of years with the company should not overshadow a guy who has given it his all for the WWE. He has been in some remarkable rivalries, and had some stunning matches.

His Royal Rumble record of 62 minutes in the matchwhen he entered at No. 2 and went on to winis a record that will take some beating, and underlines just how much of an asset Mysterio has been to the company.

Perhaps the WWE will give him one final sendoffand make WrestleMania XXX a special occasion for Mysterio to bow out on.
