Hulk Hogan hosts Smackdown at London’s O2 Arena as tensions escalate between John Cena and Bray Wyatt

@WWExtraa

The lights came up to show the legendary Jimmy Hart standing in the ring who introduced his long-time friend Hulk Hogan. The music of “The Hulkster” hit to a thunderous roar from the crowd who packed out the O2, this is not my first live event but this was one of the loudest ovations I’ve witnessed despite being at WrestleMania. Hogan announced that the WWE Network is soon to launch in the United Kingdom and promoted the flagship show “Legend’s House” to accompany the arrival.

Hogan wrapped up his announcement with a series of signature poses and hand gestures, which was received by another standing ovation by the London faithful who previously never thought that they’d see “The Immortal one” in a WWE ring in 2014 at the age of 60. The audience was slightly different to that of Raw, with a mix of youth and families amongst the more long-term fans but Hogan opening the show caused everyone to be enthused for the rest of the night.

Dolph Ziggler came out next to start the wrestling action against Batista in a no disqualification match. Batista was met with a deafening chorus of boos during his slow entrance that took him nearly five minutes to enter the ring. The match faired evenly until it fell to the outside right in front of us at the first row behind the commentators where “The Show Off” picked up a steel chair to hit Batista on the back with. Fans hurled a round of abuse at “The Animal”, which only ignited his anger even more, causing him to throw Ziggler into the barricade and then the steel steps. The superstars finally made their way back into the ring where Batista landed an impactful spear for the three count.

London refuses to “Bolieve”

Bo Dallas made his re-debut to the dismay of the Londoners who jeered the former NXT Champion throughout his entire speech. Bo Dallas told the fans to “Bolieve” before locking up with Sin Cara in a technical bout. Dallas didn’t waste time and won the match with a spinning bulldog off the corner in just under four minutes. Following the victory, Dallas gave Sin Cara a sporting handshake that came off as a way to rub salt in the wounds of the defeated opponent. We found Dallas’ eccentric celebration amusing as he screamed with joy all the way up the ramp; even after the lights went out and the cameras cut you could hear him roaring with excitement.

The ring lit up again with Bray Wyatt sat on his rocking chair with the rest of The Wyatt Family standing beside him. The arena looked remarkable as the fans turned on the torches on their phones to mimic lanterns, causing a Wyatt friendly atmosphere. Bray said that John Cena is poisoning society and that he will put an end to the plague at Payback and be the last man standing. His intriguing speech was met with horror on the faces of the younger fans but caused the more enduring fans to smile with glee, highlighting the massive spectrum of wrestling fans.

Sheamus faced Alberto del Rio next with Cesaro and Paul Heyman on commentary in front of us. The action was a bit slow going until “The King of Swing” interfered by pulling Sheamus out of the ring causing a disqualification. Cesaro then threw “The Celtic Warrior” into the stairs before landing the Neutraliser on the floor. “The Swiss Superman” then proceeded to give a knocked out Sheamus a handshake to further his quest for the United States Championship.

It’s party time

The fans were treated to the appearance of Adam Rose and his Exotic Express who interrupted Vickie Guerrero’s painful complaining. Rose asked Guerrero if she is a lemon or a rosebud, to which the fans chanted “You’re a lemon” at Smackdown’s general manager. Guerrero ended up being crowd surfed by the Exotic Express as Rose’s theme song hit, to which the crowd danced and sang along with to create a proper British pub atmosphere.

The main event saw the Usos take on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a tag-team match while John Cena and Bray Wyatt watched from either side of the ring. There was a mixed reaction for John Cena with half booing and half cheering but the former WWE Champion was full of charisma nonetheless. The match ended in a disqualification with Wyatt pushing Jimmy Uso off the turnbuckle as he went for the splash. Cena ran in the ring straight after the match to give Rowan the Attitude Adjustment as Wyatt looked on. Bray climbed onto the side of the ring as the fans geared up to witness a fight but the “Eater of the Worlds” backed down as Cena stared on to close the taping.

The best action of the night actually came after the cameras were cut as the fans were gifted a singles match between Cena and Wyatt. The match was exciting with a series of near falls and comedy segments between the wrestlers and the crowd. Cena even hinted that WrestleMania may come to London one day in the future, which was met with praise from the locals. Cena got the win with the AA to send the fans home entertained. The United Kingdom is renowned with passionate wrestling supporters and the atmosphere proved that on the night with an ecstatic crowd that cheered, booed, laughed and chanted all night.

WWE SmackDown Results from November 8

November 8 2013. So SmackDown begins with CM Punk in ring and on the mic talking about how the Wyatt Family attack people (3 on 1).

CM Punk calls out the Wyatt Family, but out comes Intercontinental champion Curtis Axel who says that Punk put his (father figure) Paul Heyman in hospital. Axel and Punk then start the show with a match between eachother.

CM Punk Def. Curtis Axel:

So after the normal start to SmackDown with someone on the mic the match begins. Very good match then half way through the match the lights go out and when they come back on Punk is waiting for the Wyatt Family to attack but it is just a distraction which leads to Axel hitting Punk on the back of his head and goes for a pin! But Punk kicks out and then all of a sudden CM Punk performs the GTS on Curtis Axel and pins Axel. The match ends then Bray Wyatt appears on the big screen... but nothing happens.

R-Truth & The USO's Def. 3MB:

So up next was a match that I did not find interesting but R-Truth's reactions and moves are incredible and for some reason The USO's went from fighting for the Tag team titles to filler matches. But the match went on and 3MB were performing well, then R-Truth showed how good he actually is and then pinned Jinder Mahal.

AJ Lee & Tamina Snuka Def. Cameron & Naomi:

Well with Total Diva's returning there is one Diva who will not be watching it and that diva is AJ Lee. Well before the match begun a video was shown of AJ saying that the only person who matters is her. Anyway on goes the match and Naomi and Cameron perform well all the time but in the end Tamina goes rough then AJ Lee performs her brutal submission move 'Black Widow' and that's another win for the Diva's Chanpion and her new close friend Tamina.

Out comes Alberto Del Rio on the mic complaining about how he should still be World Heavyweight Champion. Then he started saying about he is really hurt as well the out comes the champ John Cena and full of humour like usual he makes jokes about Del Rio being hurt then says to Del Rio he can have his rematch right now on SmackDown.

The crowd were excited and then out comes Vickie Guerrero and confirms John Cena VS Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series. She then names both their opponents for tonight. Del Rio will face The Great Khali now and Cena will face Ryback in the main event of the night.

Alberto Del Rio Def. The Great Khali:

The Great Khali shows his strength through the majority of the match. Del Rio gets back into the match then try's the cross arm breaker on khali's arm while hanging on the ropes but Khali uses his strength again and manages to get Del Rio of his arm. Del Rio gets back into the ring and some how gets Khali into the cross arm breaker and The Great Khali taps out.

After, Daniel Bryan is shown backstage and then a replay of the attack from the Wyatt Family on him and CM Punk.

Daniel Bryan Def. (DQ) Luke Harper:

The match begins and Daniel Bryan has still got bandaging around him shoulder after Mondays nights attack from the Wyatt Family.

Luke Harper using his strength against Bryan and targeting his injured area, Daniel Bryan takes down Luke Harper outside the ring but hurts his shoulder and the Harper throws Bryan into the barricade. Erik Rowan and Bray Wyatt watching outside the ring. Daniel Bryan targets the legs of Luke Harper to take down the big man.

Daniel Bryan goes for a kick to the head of Harper but Luke Harper picks Bryan up and slams him down for the pin but Bryan kicks out and then Daniel Bryan puts Luke Harper into the YES lock and Erik Rowan attacks Bryan. The Wyatt Family attack Bryan then out comes CM Punk to help and the Wyatt Family walk away slowly.

Then it is RAW rebound. The Big Show issue we will call it. Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Big Show agree to discuss things just the three of them and Big Show manages to get his job back and a WWE championship match against Randy Orton at Survivor Series.

After the good news for Big Show Triple H puts Show in a match straight away which is a 4 on 1 handicap match Big Show VS The Shield & Randy Orton. Ends in DQ after 'Corporate Kane' comes out, wearing a suit and tie, handing the Shield and Randy Orton chairs to beat down Big Show. Then to top it off a triple power bomb to Big Show through the commentary table from the Shield.

Then a video of Michael Cole's interview with COO Triple H talking about Kane's new role which is Director of operations.

John Cena Def. Ryback:

Well the Main Event of the night and Cena comes out and gets the crowd going. After Cena's win at Hell In A Cell he has been performing very well. Ryback uses his strength against Cena and counters a lot.

Ryback uses the Irish whip on Cena many times - corner to corner they go. Cena gets fired up and takes down down Ryback and Cena goes for the five knuckle shuffle but Ryback with the spine buster. Ryback goes for the shell shock but Cena counters and DDT's Ryback. Cena goes for the AA but Ryback counters and goes for the pin but Cena kicks out.

Ryback to go for the meat hook clothesline but Cena counters and into the STF in the middle of the ring but Ryback manages to get to the ropes. Then spear from Ryback and he goes for another pin but the champ kicks out again.

Cena with the neck breaker and goes for a pin but Ryback kicks out. Cena top rope and cross body then goes for AA but Ryback counters again and power slams Cena down and for another pin but Cena kicks out.

Meat hook clothesline by Ryback! Now going for a shell shock but Cena counters and AA by John Cena and he wins. Then Del Rio attacks Cena and his bad arm. Del Rio gets out the ring then goes back in for more but Cena fights back and Del Rio walks away.

Overall a good show and a brilliant main event set up by Vickie Guerroro. What will Monday Night Raw being us?
